Caving with Beyond the Classroom is an awesome experience. Our Cave Tour experience is at the Punyelroo Cave, near Swan Reach on the Murray River.
Accessible by boat or kayak, the Punyelroo Cave is along a fault line, full of fossils thousands of years old. Beyond the Classroom operate Camp Illawonga, which is directly over the river from the Punyelroo Cave, and operate cave tours via the boat "Fossil Finder", a purpose built boat with shallow draw to enter the lagoon on the way to the cave.
Students will be pushed and build resilience as they experience total darkness, see fossils, squeeze through some tight spaces and explore the cave in a safe manner.
Caving is also available at Naracoorte Cave too.
How it works
Students are provided with helmets, and torches (if they haven't brought their own) and briefed on the cave experience, look at some fossils and get ready to enter. Students enter cave in single file, and travel approximately 250 metres into the cave. Students can experience some crawl through sections on the way out if they have enough confidence.
